Rethymno Youth Hostel has always been the most sociable landmark since tourism started on the island of Crete years ago and a home away from home for travellers who wish to make new friends and discover from its very central position the endless natural and historical beauties of Crete .
Centrally positioned on the island of Crete, travelers can use our hostel as their base for day trips to the most attractive sites of the island like the Samaria Gorge, Elafonisi ' pink beach ' , Ballos beach , Lake of Kournas, Preveli beach , Knossos Palace , Festos Minoan town and lots more natural and archaeological sites in our area . Our helpful staff will always
be there to offer you the best tips .
Entering from the street you will find a historical Venetian building - overlooking one of the towns imposing minarets - with stone walls and wooden floors upstairs. Downstairs there is a beautiful patio surrounded by the green of our gardens for relaxation .
We are set within a peaceful neighbourhood in the heart of Rethymno old town yet close to town's gorgeous long ( 10 km ) sandy beach and the whole island's most exciting nightlife !
In the evening you can chill out on our patio ,make use of our free WiFi , cook meals for yourselves or have a drink with your fellow travellers before heading out to the local bars and restaurants.

Prices
The prices are: 16€ per person per night during April and October, 17€ per person per night during May, 18€ per person per night during June, 20€ per person per night during July and August and 19€ per person per night during September. There is a special weekly rate (one night is for free) , a monthly rate (on request) and special discounts for groups.
The reception hours are from 09.00–13.00 and 17.00–23.00.

A Historic Monastery
is perhaps the best known monastery on Crete due to the Holocaust of 1866. However, its location and impressive architecture make it all the more special.
Lake And Beach
is located about 35km south of Rethymno. Beach of Preveli, also known as Lake Preveli or Phoenix, is located at the exit of the imposing Kourtaliotikos Gorge, where the Great River (Megas Potamos) is flowing.
The Samaria National Park
is the second most visited tourist attraction on Crete (following the Minoan palace of Knossos) and by far the most popular walk. It is an area of stunning natural beauty.
The Samaria National Park is exceptionally rich in plant and animal life. In the gorge you will find unique species protected under international law.

is a stunning green oasis near the town of Rethymno. It is actuallya ravine inside which hosts a huge number of plants and trees, a real botanic garden. It is located north of the village Chromonastiri and south of Xero Chorio.
Rethymno is one of the four prefectures of Crete stretching from the White Mountains to Mount Psiloritis - bordered by the prefectures Chania and Heraklion. Rethymno with its 25,000 inhabitants is the capital of the prefecture. Rethymno today counts 263 villages with an average number of 200 residents.
The climate is mild Mediterranean and particularly dry and warm. There is sunshine on 245 days of the year and temperatures range from 12° to 27° C. The prevailing winds are northerly and north-westerly with occasional strong hot southerlies from the African continent.
